DEFINING PRACTICE

This project was something I focused on during my second year of university and it was initially based around a museum. We had a tour around National Museum Cardiff and our idea had to link with something that took our interest. My interest was first drawn to the Dutch paintings they had from artists such as Frans Hals, who worked with portraits and because part of my heritage is Dutch I felt that this would be the perfect opportunity to show it. Portraits was the main focus throughout my work and to be begin with I used Hendrik Kerstens as an inspiration, before moving onto the different generations within my family that contained Dutch heritage as well as using Vermeer lighting.
